Ted Brown Captures the egolf Points Race

Charlotte, N.C. – The EGOLF Tarheel Tour Championship concluded Saturday in Gordonsville, VA and brought to a close the lucrative EGOLF Points Race.

Kevin Kisner of Aiken, SC entered the EGOLF Tarheel Tour Championship with a narrow lead in the EGOLF Points Race, but missed the 36-hole cut and in turn left a door open that countless players were dying to run through. Among those players was former Virginia Commonwealth University star Ted Brown. Brown, who captured the Southern Open and the Firethorne Open this year, used a solo-third-place finish last week to jump ahead in the standings and claim the $20,000 first-place bonus prize.

“I knew I was in the mix heading down the stretch, but I wasn’t sure if I could still win depending on what the group behind me was doing,” said Brown, who had to wait and see if Jeff Curl would win and spoil his newfound prize.

“I’m just happy that EGOLF put this together for us and I was able to come out on top.”

Curl, as a result of his runner-up finish at Spring Creek Golf Club, vaulted up to No. 2 on the points list and earned a $10,000 bonus. For Curl, it was the culmination of an eight-day stretch in which he claimed $54,000 in earnings and prizes from the EGOLF Tarheel Tour, thanks in part to his win at the Walnut Creek Open and his finishes last week.

EGOLF Tarheel Tour Championship winner Matt Davidson finished third and collected $5,000 for his last-second heroics. Davidson had earned limited points for participation leading up to his win, so the added bonus was nothing short of icing on the cake.

Kisner, who was forced to watch the points race unfold from home as he prepared for the first stage of PGA Tour Qualifying School, fell from first to fourth, but was still rewarded with $4,000 in bonus money.

In total, $50,000 worth of bonus money was awarded to the top 10 players on the season-ending points list. EGOLF Tarheel Tour President David Siegel saw this as an opportunity to create more exposure for new partner EGOLF and help players when they need it most.

“The timing of this points race was set up so that our players who ended the year on a hot streak could take advantage of the opportunity to alleviate financial pressures with Q-School around the corner. EGOLF shares our commitment to preparing our players for the PGA Tour and realizing that we can be a key component in them achieving their dreams."
