egolf Named Official Title Sponsor of the Amateur Golf Tour

Charlotte, NC – egolf, the new company created to be a one-stop resource for everything related to golf, will be the official title sponsor of the Amateur Golf Tour, renaming it “the egolf Amateur Tour.” The new name will launch at this weekend’s 2007 Tour Championship in Hilton Head, S.C.

egolf purchased the five-year title sponsorship with an optional five-year extension with hopes of growing and improving several aspects of the increasingly popular amateur tour. Founded in 1995, the tour provides the opportunity for “average golfers” to play competitive golf against equally matched opponents across the country.

“We’re really excited to bring the tour under the egolf umbrella,” said Wes Jones, founding egolf partner. “For more than a decade, the tour has continued to grow in popularity among amateur golfers, and we believe we can help take it to the next level.”

According to egolf Partner Macon Moye, the Amateur Golf Tour announcement is a sign of things to come for the future of the organization.

“The partnership between the Amateur Golf Tour and egolf is the first of many strategic partnerships that we’ll be announcing over the coming months,” said Moye.

A portion of the egolf sponsorship funds will go toward increasing the number of tours that are available across the country. Currently, the tour reaches golfers in 17 states.

“I’ve known Macon Moye, Wes Jones and their partners a long time, and the team they are putting together is incomparable,” said Amateur Golf Tour President Dennis McCormac. “The power and skill these guys bring, as well as their contacts and sub-sponsors, are unparalleled. I’m certain egolf’s involvement will add huge value to the tour.”

The egolf amateur tour joins the ranks of a quickly expanding portfolio of resources dedicated to golfers including: egolf radio, egolf centers, egolf travel and egolf concierge. All egolf services can be accessed by visiting www.egolf.com.

egolf radio

Broadcast on Charlotte’s Sports Radio, WFNZ 610 AM, the egolf radio show brings the world of golf to the airwaves.  Seasoned sports announcer Taylor Zarzour offers his insight and input from special guests, including the tour's greats, nationally known golf writers and sport celebrities.

egolf centers

The flagship egolf center is a state-of-the-art facility in Charlotte which provides instructional services for the mind, body and motion of the golf swing. Personalized instruction, the latest technology and industry-leading fitness equipment combines to build a personalized program for improving each golfer’s game. Additional egolf centers will be launched nationwide in 2008.

egolf travel

Avid golfers can call on the egolf travel staff to put together domestic and international golf packages, as well as corporate events and tournaments. Based out of golf Mecca Pinehurst, N.C., this service coordinates and manages events anywhere in the world, arranging everything from travel and accommodations to specific catering needs.

egolf concierge

egolf concierge offers sports marketing and event management services.  The corporate concierge team works with individual companies to use the elite world of golf to help carry out their sales and marketing initiatives.

Because the Web site unites key players from various corners of the golfing world, egolf believes its tour sponsorship will help court the interest of other national sponsors. “With additional sponsors on board, we’ll be that much closer to achieving our goal of improving the overall player experience and increasing player benefits,” said Moye.

This year’s Tour Championship in Hilton Head will bring together the tour’s top 550 players from around the country, representative of 15 states and 34 individual tours. Nearly 2700 members participated in the tour this year, and McCormac expects that number to climb to more than 3,000 in 2008.

Players representing five separate flights will vie for bragging rights and thousands of dollars in winnings Saturday, October 27 and Sunday, October 28. Six courses from Palmetto Dunes, Oyster Row and Port Royal Plantation will host the players.

Moye is eager to announce the name change and Web site launch to tour directors and players Friday, October 25, at the evening welcome reception at the Port Royal Clubhouse.

“Simply put, when you think about cool golf stuff, we want people to think about egolf,” said Moye.  “It’s convenient, it’s helpful and strictly about golf – it’s every golfer’s dream.”
